Sutro Baths Engagement in SF

I recently made a trip out to the Sutro Baths in San Francisco. I had never been there previously so it was a nice chance to explore some curiosity. Juliana and Shawn were a terrific couple. We walked all the way down the cliff side in order to capture some of the beautiful structure and ocean beach. The day didn't start quite as we had hoped as it was raining. We stuck it out and after a few minutes of dodging in and out of the rain, it cleared for a bit and we were able to get some great shots. I'm happy it all worked out. I was a bit nervous that it would end up raining the entire day.

Gretchen and Matt's wedding in Berkeley

Last December I photographed at the Hotel Shattuck in Berekeley. The hotel was built in 1910 and then renovated and updated in the 90's. Really great structure and a blast to photograph at. I had the pleasure of photographing for Gretchen and Matt's wedding days before Christmas. So naturally they had a very festive theme for their wedding. They had just both finished up with finals for their masters programs and living at separate ends of the US. They managed to do this all while planning a wedding. They did a great job and from the images you can see that they and their guests had a great time. I'm glad I was there to capture it.

Kris and Marcelo's wedding

I headed up to Lodi, CA last October to photograph the wedding of Kris and Marcelo. The whole event was held at Wine and Rose, a beautiful winery and hotel. I photographed the event with Heidi Huber of Heidi Huber photography which added a nice mix of story telling to Kris and Marcelo's day. I think they got a really nice blend of some traditional as well as creative and more contemporary shots of their day. The couple was really sweet and funny. They had chosen a variety of props to use to showcase their personalities. They even brought in a photo booth for their guests to use. I have become a bit of a fan of the photo booth. It gives the guests something fun to do as well as serves as a memento for the day.

2010 season almost at an end

Realizing that I haven't posted in almost a year, oy!, I figured I'd do a blog about the past year that I've missed.
This year had some really great moments. I've seen some trends come through the wood works, learned some things and have had a blast. This coming year I'll be focusing more on weddings and photojournalism although that's not to say I won't be doing portraits. Its what I love and am good at.
This coming year I'll be more focused on getting real solid story telling images. I want to offer my clients something they can't just get anywhere. I want to create a beautiful hybrid between portraits and photojournalism. Talking with a lot of photographers, they see these things as two separate ideas, but if you think about it, what is a portrait? Its a connection between the subject and the camera. It's documenting who that person(s) is/are at that moment in time. 2011 will focus on that. I'm going to bring my roots back into this and with hope, people will love and appreciate it.
Here are some highlights from this year (minus a few weddings I've shot recently due to my contracts)
