2010 season almost at an end

Realizing that I haven't posted in almost a year, oy!, I figured I'd do a blog about the past year that I've missed.
This year had some really great moments. I've seen some trends come through the wood works, learned some things and have had a blast. This coming year I'll be focusing more on weddings and photojournalism although that's not to say I won't be doing portraits. Its what I love and am good at.
This coming year I'll be more focused on getting real solid story telling images. I want to offer my clients something they can't just get anywhere. I want to create a beautiful hybrid between portraits and photojournalism. Talking with a lot of photographers, they see these things as two separate ideas, but if you think about it, what is a portrait? Its a connection between the subject and the camera. It's documenting who that person(s) is/are at that moment in time. 2011 will focus on that. I'm going to bring my roots back into this and with hope, people will love and appreciate it.
Here are some highlights from this year (minus a few weddings I've shot recently due to my contracts)

Maria and Vanessa

Looks like I'm a bit behind in my blogging. Its been a busy last couple of months. I've done a couple shoots between November and now. One of the last shoots I did was with a friend of mine and her fiance, Vanessa. We started our shoot near the Argonaut hotel in San Francisco. SF has to be one of my more favorite places to shoot. We finished our shoot in an hour and within that time we were able to get a variety of images and backgrounds. Luckily my very amazing boyfriend was there to help lug my equipment, leaving my hands and mind free to work their magic.

I was really happy with the way the beach images came out. My favorite is working with mixed lighting situations. I love a good challenge and it gives me opportunity to show of my flash skills.

Aaron and Jessica

So I'm kinda addicted right now to photographing down town Antioch. You wouldn't know it, but its a great place to do portraits. So many options for scenery. I recently took some engagement photos there for a friend and his finace. Aaron and Jessica came with great attitudes, smiles and fun. Made the shoot a blast and as you can see, the pictures turned out beautifully.

Gale Family Portraits

Got the opportunity to photograph one of my favorite families. We got some really great shots during this shoot in down town Antioch. Their personalities really shine through which is something I always try to capture in any of my shoots.

I've know the Gale's for about 10 years and every experience I have with them results in my face being sore the next day from laughing so much. Great family and it was a pleasure to finally do some family portraits for them.

Morgan and Greg

Morgan and Greg were a great couple I photographed recently. I got to experience their wedding day with them last month. Beautiful ceremony. Got some great shots of the sunlight coming through the window an lightly kissing the back of Morgan's veil.

Lots of emotion running, which was great. We got a lot of great reaction shots which really helped tell their story. You could really see the love in their eyes. Its quiet a beautiful thing to experience.

Session in the City

Had a terrific session in the city this last Sunday. Thought I would be a little burned out from my trip to Vegas, but ate a Power Bar and away we went! Got some gorgeous images on the Crissy Fields beach and had enough time to swing by the Palace of Fine Arts. Check out some of these fun images.

Thanks to my awesome client I not only got some great shots, but had a fun filled evening with her and her girlfriends. No folks, shes not a hired model, but could be for sure. This was all natural talent.
